The mission, part of the project “Soothe, Harvest and Sell” that involved Cape Verdean and Azorean entrepreneurs who met in the Azores during April. The business mission was an opportunity for knowledge sharing and cooperation in order to overcome the challenges posed by insularity.

The entourage visited some companies in the Azores and for Marcos Rodrigues, president of CCS, the Azores are the ideal partner for Cape Verde because they have a business fabric, in terms of small and medium-sized enterprises, with characteristics similar to the national context. He believes that the partnership relations between the archipelagos should be strengthened both at the business and governmental level.

In this sense Marcos Rodrigues held several meetings, namely with the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Ponta Delgada and the Presidents of the Chambers of Santa Maria, Northeast and Ponta Delgada. For Marcos Rodrigues, the meeting with the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Ponta Delgada, Mário Fortuna, was important from the point of view of partnerships between the entities for the development of the agro-industrial sector in Cape Verde.

For Cape Verdean entrepreneurs, going to the Azores allows us to acquire new ideas and contribute to the development of agriculture in the country. For businessman António Correia, this visit allows us to join synergies and learn from the business experience in the Azores that is in a more advanced phase than Cape Verde and bring to the country new practices to solve some of the existing problems in the country.

For the entrepreneur, Danilson Silveira, it is a great opportunity to learn and to know new technologies that are important to develop the country. For this entrepreneur, the pandemic showed the need to produce more in Cape Verde.
